Walking safari
Leave the vehicle and walk with an armed ranger, close to the ground, the tracks and the smaller life of the bush.
In a vehicle you watch the bush. On foot you are part of it: you hear the birds, smell the dust and the animals, and notice the tracks, dung and insects you would drive straight past.
Where we walk
- Arusha National Park: an armed ranger leads you through the foothills of Mount Meru, across grassland with giraffe and buffalo, into forest to look for colobus monkeys, and on to a waterfall. Walks here last up to about four hours, with a rest at a picnic site.
- Around Tarangire: guided nature walks can take the place of an afternoon game drive.
Walks are always led by an armed ranger. Wear neutral bush colours and comfortable shoes.
